In 2019, as Chairman of the U.S. House Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law (ACAL) Subcommittee, Congressman Cicilline began a bipartisan investigation into digital markets. The purpose of this effort is to determine if competition problems exist in the digital economy, and whether existing law is sufficient to address such problems. The Subcommittee, under the direction of Cicilline and his Republican counterpart, has been reviewing millions of pages of information from four dominant firms in the digital economy – Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google.
